Baseball Recap: Manteno Picks Up Second Consecutive Win

Manteno barely beat Kankakee the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers' pitchers stepped up to hand the Kays a 7-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by seven runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Logan Bufford, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Franklin Jordan, who got on base in both of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Manteno and bumps their season record up to 16-7. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Kankakee, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 13 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-21 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Manteno will square off against Pontiac at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Kankakee, they will take on Coal City at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Coalers' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Kays' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
