Baseball Game Preview: Lake Howell Silverhawks vs. Winter Springs Bears

Lake Howell is 8-2 against Winter Springs since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Lake Howell will be playing in front of their home fans against Winter Springs at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Lake Howell will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Friday, then bounced right back against University on Monday. Lake Howell walked away with a 10-5 win over University. The victory continues a trend for the Silverhawks in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won four in a row.

Diego Miranda was incredible, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Lake Howell's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 3-1 (and 7-8 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Wesley Gierke, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Winter Springs came tearing into Monday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 7-2.

Winter Springs' win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-4. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Lake Howell, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Lake Howell skirted past Winter Springs 5-4 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will Lake Howell repeat their success, or does Winter Springs has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
