Baseball Recap: Eastern Montgomery Victorious

Eastern Montgomery hadn't done well against Parry McCluer recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Mustangs walked away with a 9-6 win over the Fighting Blues. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Mustangs also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Marshall Tate was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off nine hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Austin Tate was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Maze Cox was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Eastern Montgomery was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

Eastern Montgomery's victory bumped their record up to 6-1-1. As for Parry McCluer, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eastern Montgomery will welcome Narrows at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Mustangs will need to watch out since the Green Waves have now posted at least ten runs in their last four matches. As for Parry McCluer, they will host Craig County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Fighting Blues are facing the Rockets at the right time seeing as the Rockets are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
