Softball Game Preview: False River Gators vs. Port Barre Red Devils

The False River Gators will head out on the road to face off against the Port Barre Red Devils at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. False River has given up an average of 10 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

False River came up short against Livonia on Friday, falling 16-6. The Gators have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

False River saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Teryn Deville, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Another was Ramie Guidroz, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Port Barre scored first but ultimately less than West Feliciana in their contest on Thursday. They fell 7-3 to the Saints.

Ada Young spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Port Barre's loss dropped their record down to 12-11. As for False River, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-14-1.

False River suffered a grim 12-1 defeat to Port Barre when the teams last played back in February of 2021. Can the Gators avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
