Softball Recap: Fleming Island Drops Highest Score of Season Against Providence School

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fleming Island). They put the hurt on the Providence School Stallions with a sharp 19-2 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Golden Eagles, who have now won six matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Brooke Wilson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Wilson was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-5. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Ashlyn Madine was a standout: she went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Bailee Wadley, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4.

Fleming Island hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in five consecutive games.

Fleming Island has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Providence School, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-12.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fleming Island will take on Clay at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Providence School, they will face off against Trinity Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
