Basketball Game Preview: Roswell Coyotes vs. Carlsbad Cavemen/Cavegirls

Roswell hasn't had much luck against Carlsbad recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Roswell Coyotes will look to defend their home court against the Carlsbad Cavemen/Cavegirls at 7:00 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Roswell is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Mexico's top teams: Hobbs, who was ranked first at the time (Roswell was ranked 17th). Roswell had to suffer through a 85-39 loss at the hands of Hobbs. The Coyotes were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 52-17.

Meanwhile, Carlsbad was just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 35-34 to Clovis.

This is the second loss in a row for Roswell and nudges their season record down to 13-8. As for Carlsbad, they dropped their record down to 15-6 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Roswell came up short against Carlsbad in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 42-35. Can Roswell avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
