Basketball Recap: Gloucester Comes Up Short

If Gloucester was feeling good fresh off their 72-51 takedown of Walsingham Academy back in December of 2024, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Gloucester Dukes took a 60-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Phoebus Phantoms. The Dukes lost against the Phantoms in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 76-51 score last time.

Gloucester dropped their record down to 2-7 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Phoebus, with the victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gloucester won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Phoebus, they will also get right back to it: they'll face off against Menchville at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Phoebus has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
