Softball Recap: Lakeland Takes a Loss

Lakeland extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 2-3 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Somers Tuskers. The Hornets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tuskers earlier this season, when they won 4-2.

As for Somers, their victory bumped their record up to 9-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since April 8th.

For Somers' part, Emily Boyle spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on one hit and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kaleigh Conti, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple was her first of the season.

Lakeland does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Somers, they have already played their next game, a 3-1 defeat against Tappan Zee on the 13th.
