Baseball Recap: Loyd Star Starts Season with Victory at Home

Loyd Star took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Monday. Everything went their way against the Franklin County Bulldogs as the Loyd Star Hornets made off with an 11-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won five in a row.

The team relied heavily on Casen Easterling, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayne Case, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Loyd Star always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Franklin County only posted an OBP of .200.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Loyd Star will take on Cathedral at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Franklin County, they will host McComb at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
