Basketball Recap: Mater Academy East Las Vegas Makes It Ten in a Row at Home

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Mater Academy East Las Vegas walked away with it. They claimed a resounding 58-29 win over The Meadows School Mustangs. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 17 contests by 22 points or more this season.

Mater Academy East Las Vegas was led to victory by Amija Macon and Myla Faught. Macon dropped a double-double with 23 points and 13 boards, while Faught posted 26 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Macon's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Victoria Rubio-White, who put up three points and four steals.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Evie De Wit, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 11 boards. Another player making a difference was Chloe Gyang, who had six points in addition to eight rebounds and three blocks.

Mater Academy East Las Vegas' victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-6. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 18.5 points over those games. As for The Meadows School, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.

Mater Academy East Las Vegas has already played their next game, a 75-53 win against Sports Leadership & Management on the 13th. The Meadows School does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
