Basketball Preview: Kirby Prep Griffins vs. Anzar Hawks

The Kirby Prep Griffins will head out on the road to square off against the Anzar Hawks at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.

Last Friday, it was a hard-fought contest, but Kirby Prep had to settle for a 31-28 defeat against the Warriors.

Despite the loss, Kirby Prep saw an underclassman step up: Chris Lively scored 18 points along with five steals. Lively has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Nate Kawasaki, who scored six points along with six rebounds and five steals.

Meanwhile, Anzar came out on top against the Spartans last Wednesday by a score of 57-44 (the very same score they lost by the week prior).

Kirby Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Anzar, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-7.

Kirby Prep took their win against the Hawks in their previous matchup back in January by a conclusive 47-27. The rematch might be a little tougher for Kirby Prep since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
