Basketball Game Preview: Toombs County Bulldogs vs. Woodville-Tompkins Wolverines

Toombs County hasn't had much luck against Woodville-Tompkins recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The two teams will face off at 8:30 p.m. without much rest, having both just played. Toombs County will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Toombs County can't be too worried about heading out to take on Woodville-Tompkins: they just beat Vidalia at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. Toombs County came out on top in a nail-biter against Vidalia on Thursday, sneaking past 38-36. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Bulldogs' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 273rd, while the Indians are ranked 101st).

Meanwhile, in a tight contest that could have gone either way, Woodville-Tompkins made off with a 52-51 win over Savannah Christian. The Wolverines haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Toombs County pushed their record up to 14-11 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points over those games. As for Woodville-Tompkins, their victory bumped their record up to 13-10.

Toombs County came up short against Woodville-Tompkins in their previous meeting back in January, falling 49-45. Can Toombs County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
