Doane Academy strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Pemberton Hornets. Doane Academy might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by six runs or more this season.

Jake Powell made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Chris Powell was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as he's now launched at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Matt Kulyk, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Doane Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive matchups.

Doane Academy's win bumped their record up to 14-0. As for Pemberton, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-3.

Looking ahead, Doane Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Delran at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Pemberton, they will head out on the road to face off against Pennsauken at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
