Preview: Waubonsie Valley Warriors vs. Willowbrook Warriors

The Waubonsie Valley Warriors will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Willowbrook Warriors at 1:30 p.m. on December 26th. One thing working in Waubonsie Valley's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight contests.

Last Thursday, Waubonsie Valley beat Oswego East 64-54. Given Waubonsie Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while Oswego East is ranked 163rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Waubonsie Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hannah Laub, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The match was Laub's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Danyella Mporokoso, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Willowbrook was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 48-42 to Fenwick.

Waubonsie Valley's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.4 points per game. As for Willowbrook, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.

Everything came up roses for Waubonsie Valley against Willowbrook in their previous meeting last Tuesday as the team secured a 66-36 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Waubonsie Valley since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
