Volleyball Recap: Paul Laurence Dunbar Takes a Loss

Paul Laurence Dunbar lost against North Oldham back in September of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Bulldogs fell 3-1 to the Mustangs. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

While Paul Laurence Dunbar ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-18, 19-25, 25-23.

Mia Pendley paced Paul Laurence Dunbar's offense, picking up 16 kills. Pendley got some help from Ava Martha and her 31 assists. Mia Claire Barnes and Sadie Stuart kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with three aces apiece.

North Oldham was led to victory by Ashlyn Thompson and Chloe Clark. Thompson had 21 digs and four assists, while Clark had 13 assists and five digs. Those 21 digs gave Thompson a new career-high. Raleigh Becker also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Paul Laurence Dunbar's loss dropped their record down to 15-15. As for North Oldham, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season.

Paul Laurence Dunbar didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-1 defeat against Lexington Catholic on the 8th. As for North Oldham, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-2 win against Floyd Central on the 1st.
