Basketball Recap: Episcopal Academy Churchmen vs. Delaware County Christian Knights
The Episcopal Academy Churchmen entered their tilt with the Delaware County Christian Knights with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Episcopal Academy came out on top against the Knights by a score of 74-65 on Saturday. 74 seems to be a good number for Episcopal Academy as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Delaware County Christian's loss came despite strong showings from Beau Lyren and Khamai Orange. Lyren scored 19 points, while Orange scored 20 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Bradford Berwick, who scored ten points.
Delaware County Christian struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Episcopal Academy pushed their record up to 12-3 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points per game. As for Delaware County Christian, their defeat ended a eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Episcopal Academy's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Blue Devils at 4:00 p.m. on February 6th. Springside Chestnut Hill Academy is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Delaware County Christian, they and the Drakes will face off at 5:30 p.m. on February 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Jenkintown will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 466th, while the Knights are ranked 175th).
