Basketball Recap: Reno Huskies vs. Reed Raiders

Reno won the last time they faced Reed and things went their way on Friday too. The Reno Huskies walked away with a 53-41 victory over the Reed Raiders. Given the Huskies' advantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while the Raiders are ranked 62nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Reno to victory, but perhaps none more so than Johnavin Evans, who went 7 of 10 en route to 14 points and seven boards. Those seven rebounds gave Evans a new career-high. Eric Platz was another key player, putting up ten points and five boards.

Reno was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Reed only posted two assists.

Reed lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Xavier Hoffman, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 13 points. Another player making a difference was Gabriel Smith, who posted eight points and seven rebounds.

The win was the third in a row for Reno, bringing their record for this year to 15-7. As for Reed, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-14.

Reno is taking a road trip to take on Damonte Ranch at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Damonte Ranch will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Reno surely won't give up without a fight. As for Reed, they will welcome McQueen at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
