Basketball Game Preview: Clarkston Wolves vs. Avondale Yellowjackets

The Clarkston Wolves will venture away from home to challenge the Avondale Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Clarkston is headed into Thursday's game hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight losses. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 59-58 heartbreaker at the hands of Adams. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Wolves came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 36th, while the Highlanders are ranked 201st).

Meanwhile, Avondale entered their tilt with Bloomfield Hills on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They came out on top against the Black Hawks by a score of 70-59.

Avondale's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-6. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.5 points over those games. As for Clarkston, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-5.

Clarkston came up short against Avondale in their previous matchup back in January, falling 55-48. Can Clarkston avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
