Softball Recap: El Segundo Picks Up 13th Consecutive Win

El Segundo waltzed into their matchup on Monday with 12 straight wins... but they left with 13. They blew past the Venice Gondoliers 15-3. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.

Molly McAndrews and Jacy Lindsay dominated on the mound. McAndrews tossed four innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits, while Lindsay tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Lindsay has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Carter Cswaykus, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sienna Mayer, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.

El Segundo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

El Segundo pushed their record up to 17-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Venice, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. El Segundo will challenge South at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Venice, they will face off against University at 2:30 p.m. on the 23rd. The Gondoliers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
