Basketball Recap: Holbrook Snags 11th Win in Last 13 Games

Holbrook won the last time they faced Show Low and things went their way on Friday too. The Holbrook Roadrunners took down the Show Low Cougars 65-47. Given the Roadrunners' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 107th, while the Cougars are ranked 229th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Holbrook had a senior duo take command as Jaron Becenti went 7 of 12 en route to 18 points and five rebounds and Tyler Tapaha posted 16 points in addition to seven boards and six assists. The contest was Tapaha's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Travis Bia, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine boards.

Despite the loss, Show Low still got an impressive performance from Hadlee Dazen, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. With that strong performance, Dazen is now averaging an impressive 8.1 boards per game. Mason Bigos was another key player, going 6 for 15 on his way to 13 points.

Holbrook has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.2 points per game. As for Show Low, their record now sits at 9-14.

Holbrook has already played their next matchup, a 54-39 victory against Monument Valley on the 25th. As for Show Low, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-51 defeat against Winslow on the 28th.
