Newark Academy dropped their record down to 8-4 on Friday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They lost 12-4 to the Millburn Millers. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Minutemen have suffered since May 7, 2024.

Newark Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Michael Wyche, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

As for Millburn, their win bumped their record up to 7-8. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Millburn's side, they got a great performance from Leo Dalton as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Dalton has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Greg Rosenthal, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Millburn is 2-1 when Rosenthal posts two or more stolen bases, but 5-7 otherwise. Peter Lawrence was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Newark Academy has already played their next game, a 12-3 defeat against Gill St. Bernard's on the 3rd. As for Millburn, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, an 8-7 victory against Old Bridge on the 3rd.
