Baseball Game Preview: Parkland Trojans vs. Freedom Patriots

The Parkland Trojans will challenge the Freedom Patriots at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Parkland is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Tuesday. Everything went their way against William Allen as Parkland made off with an 8-2 victory.

Nathan Unger made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three RBI.

Unger wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jack Streeter, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Freedom hadn't done well against Nazareth Area recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Freedom skirted past Nazareth Area 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Patriots have posted since April 24, 2024.

Ryan Kullman was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.

Parkland came out on top in a nail-biter against Freedom in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. Will Parkland repeat their success, or does Freedom have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
