Softball Game Preview: Hollidaysburg Golden Tigers vs. Altoona Mountain Lions

Hollidaysburg is on a five-game streak of home losses, and Altoona a seven-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Friday. The Hollidaysburg Golden Tigers will look to defend their home field against the Altoona Mountain Lions at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Bellwood-Antis hit Hollidaysburg with a four-run seventh inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Golden Tigers took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Blue Devils.

Hollidaysburg saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Morris, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Central Dauphin hit Altoona with a seven-run fifth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mountain Lions came up short against the Rams, falling 14-3.

Jayda Yost was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run. Kaya Sprankle was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Hollidaysburg's loss dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Altoona, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-14.

Hollidaysburg was able to grind out a solid win over Altoona in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 6-1. Will the Golden Tigers repeat their success, or do the Mountain Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
