Baseball Game Preview: Houston Hurricanes vs. Southland Rebels

Houston is 0-7 against Southland since May of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Hurricanes will be playing at home against the Rebels at 4:30 p.m. The last three games Houston has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Houston blew Fillmore Central/Lanesboro out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Monday Fillmore Central/Lanesboro got their revenge. The Hurricanes fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 5-3.

Houston saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hector Steinfeldt, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Archer Semling also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Blooming Prairie hit Southland with a six-run third inning last Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Rebels came up short against the Awesome Blossoms, falling 12-4. The Rebels have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Southland's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Houston, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Houston has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .445. However, it's not like Southland struggles in that department as they've averaged .511. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Houston suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Southland in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Hurricanes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
