Recap: Fayetteville Academy Eagles vs. Halifax Academy Vikings
On Tuesday, Fayetteville Academy came up short against Halifax Academy and fell 45-38. Fayetteville Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Fayetteville Academy still got an impressive performance from Riley Duchon, who scored 22 points. Duchon scored a full 57.9% of Fayetteville Academy's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mary Reese Barkman, who scored 8 points.
Halifax Academy was led to victory by Karson Ricks and Hayden Hilton. Ricks scored 17 points along with 5 steals, while Hilton dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. The match was Hilton's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Maddy Bethel was another key contributor, scoring 2 points along with 7 rebounds and 4 steals.
Fayetteville Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Halifax Academy, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fayetteville Academy will play host again and welcome Wayne Country Day, where tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Halifax Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Pungo Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. Hopefully Pungo Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 33 last Tuesday.
