Football Game Preview: Tyler Legacy Raiders vs. Forney Jackrabbits

The Tyler Legacy Raiders will face off against the Forney Jackrabbits at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Tyler Legacy has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with five straight losses, while Forney will come in with three straight victories.

Tyler Legacy came up short against Rockwall on Thursday, falling 39-15. The contest marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from DJ Owens, who picked up 101 receiving yards and one touchdown. Jai'Den Kemp was in the mix too, providing Tyler Legacy with one TD.

Meanwhile, Forney was not the first on the board last Friday, but they got there more often. They slipped by Rockwall 48-47. Things were looking grim for the Jackrabbits in the first quarter (they were down by 22) but they stormed back to get the game.

Tyler Legacy better keep an eye on Javian Osborne. He was instrumental in Forney's win, rushing for 210 yards and four scores. Osborne's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 163 rushing yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Nelson Peterson Jr., who threw for 186 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 17 passes.

Forney was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 250 rushing yards. They are a perfect 5-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Forney's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Tyler Legacy, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Tyler Legacy has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 186.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Forney struggles in that department as they've been averaging 226 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Tyler Legacy might still be hurting after the 40-14 loss they got from Forney when the teams last played back in November of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Raiders were down 34-0.
