Softball Recap: Gilbert Yellowjackets vs. Shepaug Valley Spartans
Gilbert extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 12 on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-3 in the process. They lost 11-2 to the Shepaug Valley Spartans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Yellowjackets of the 23-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.
As for Shepaug Valley, the win snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 2-5 record. Their offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last five games.
For Shepaug Valley's part, Cameron Tisi made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Tisi was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three runs.

Gilbert will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Nonnewaug at 3:45 p.m. on May 7. As for Shepaug Valley, they will challenge Lakeview at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
