Basketball Recap: Hamilton Triumphs

Hamilton waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They pulled ahead with a 48-47 photo finish over the Carrollton Hawks.

Leading Hamilton to victory were Jadyn Climer and Grace Grothaus. Climer dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 boards, while Grothaus went 6 of 10 on her way to 15 points and three steals. Climer has been hot, having posted nine or more boards the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dettriona Church, who posted eight points.

Hamilton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since the start of last season.

Despite the defeat, Carrollton had strong showings from Lauren Flowers, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 18 rebounds, and Hayden Mcmurtrie, who had 12 points.

Hamilton is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.4 points per game. As for Carrollton, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-5.

When Hamilton and Carrollton next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Hamilton will try to stop Pittsfield's 13-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hamilton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.5 points per game this season. Similarly, Carrollton will try to stop Brown County's four-game winning streak when the meet at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
