Basketball Game Preview: St. John's Mavericks vs. St. Pius X Panthers

The St. John's Mavericks will challenge the St. Pius X Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.

St. John's saw some tournament action on Saturday. They came up short against Episcopal, falling 55-31. The loss continues a trend for the Mavericks in their matchups with the Knights: they've now lost eight in a row.

Meanwhile, St. Pius X had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.3 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They blew past the Falcons 46-23. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 23 points or more this season.

St. Pius X's win bumped their record up to 17-2. As for St. John's, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.

St. John's was able to grind out a solid victory over St. Pius X in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 55-48. Does St. John's have another victory up their sleeve, or will St. Pius X turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
