Baseball Game Preview: Mt. Carmel Sundevils vs. Scripps Ranch Falcons

Mt. Carmel is on a four-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Scripps Ranch a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Thursday. The Mt. Carmel Sundevils will be taking part in a tournament against the Scripps Ranch Falcons at 4:00 p.m. Mt. Carmel's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Scripps Ranch's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Mt. Carmel's offense. They fell just short of Southwest EC by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Sundevils were not able to get on the board.

Jack Grassa spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits.

At the plate, Mt. Carmel saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carson Weber, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Scripps Ranch scored the most runs they've had this season on Wednesday, but it wasn't enough. They fell 9-6 to Bonita Vista.

Brayden Geruntino made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season.

Mt. Carmel now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Scripps Ranch, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.
