Softball Game Preview: James Monroe Mavericks vs. Woodrow Wilson Flying Eagles

The James Monroe Mavericks will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Woodrow Wilson Flying Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Woodrow Wilson took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on James Monroe, who comes in off a win.

James Monroe is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Liberty. James Monroe skirted past Liberty 4-2.

Bryleigh Thomas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks.

On the hitting side, Peighton Griffith was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Grayson Dowdy, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Woodrow Wilson's offense. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Riverside on Monday. The loss put an end to the Flying Eagles' undefeated start to the season.

Woodrow Wilson also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Aubrey Smallwood gave up three runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up ten Ks.
