Basketball Recap: Madison Skates Past Hillsdale with Ease

Madison came tearing into Thursday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.7 points), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Hillsdale Hornets, posting a 46-18 win. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 24 points or more this season.

Nevaeh Parish was the offensive standout of the matchup as she posted nine points along with eight steals and five assists. She is becoming a predictor of Madison's success: when she posts at least three steals the team is 14-1 (and 1-3 when she doesn't). Another player making a difference was Kelsey McCarty, who scored eight points and six steals.

Parish wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Madison was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hillsdale only one assist.

When it comes to explaining why Hillsdale lost, don't look at Rakell Brown. Despite the final result, she had seven points in addition to ten boards and three blocks.

Madison pushed their record up to 15-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.0 points over those games. As for Hillsdale, they are on a 17-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-18.

Madison wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 35-27 win against Ida on the 18th. As for Hillsdale, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 67-27 loss against Blissfield on the 18th.
