Basketball Recap: Arlington Christian's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Ten

Arlington Christian put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 63-62 victory over the Creekside Christian Academy Cougars. For Arlington Christian, this counts as revenge for the 59-56 win Creekside Christian Academy walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.

Leading Arlington Christian to victory were Chezi Essel and Khalib Brooks. Essel went 8 for 12 on his way to 20 points in addition to seven boards and six assists, while Brooks posted 16 points and five steals. The game was Brooks' fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Haslem, who put up seven points.

Creekside Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Gabe Harris, who went 7 of 10 on his way to 15 points along with eight boards and three blocks. Harris continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Chase Maddox was another key player, going 7 of 12 on his way to 17 points and five rebounds.

Arlington Christian's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-0. As for Creekside Christian Academy, they now have a losing record at 4-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Arlington Christian will host W D Mohammed at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Arlington Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully W D Mohammed likes a good challenge. As for Creekside Christian Academy, they will welcome New Creation Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
