Basketball Recap: Bella Vista Comes Up Short

Bella Vista was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a hard 59-44 fall against the Woodcreek Timberwolves. While losing is never fun, the Broncos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 607th, while the Timberwolves are ranked 58th).

Despite the loss, Bella Vista still got an impressive performance from Mark Otrotsyuk, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 19 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Otrotsyuk is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Cael Bird, who went 5 for 10 en route to 10 points and eight boards.

Even though they lost, Bella Vista smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive matchups.

Michael Kirby, Jr. continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Woodcreek, going 6 of 12 on his way to 18 points and three steals. That's the most points Kirby, Jr. has posted since back in November of 2024. Zach Bualat was another key player, going 5 for 11 en route to 12 points.

Bella Vista's loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Woodcreek, they pushed their record up to 16-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Bella Vista wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 59-45 defeat against Vista del Lago on the 23rd. Woodcreek has also already played their next contest, a 66-58 win against Roseville on the 24th.
