Basketball Recap: Richfield Wildcats vs. North Sanpete Hawks
A well-balanced attack led the Richfield Wildcats over the North Sanpete Hawks in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Richfield blew the Hawks out of the water with a 62-31 final score. Richfield pushed the score to 51-23 by the end of the third, a deficit the Hawks had little chance of recovering from.
Richfield got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jorgen Southwick out in front who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Malik Fautin, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds.
North Sanpete lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Payton Hendry, who scored six points along with eight rebounds. Dimick Huntington was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Richfield is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for North Sanpete, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Richfield will square off against the Wasps at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for North Sanpete, they will head out on the road to face off against the Templars at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Manti has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
