Preview: Collins Hill Eagles vs. Mill Creek Hawks
Collins Hill is 2-7 against Mill Creek since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Collins Hill Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mill Creek Hawks at 7:30 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Collins Hill can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They walked away with a 22-14 victory over Mountain View.
Alijah Patillo and Chase Nash were among the main playmakers for Collins Hill as the former picked up 93 receiving yards and a touchdown and the latter gained 107 total yards and a touchdown.
Collins Hill's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. Leading the way was Deuce Geralds and his three sacks.
Meanwhile, Mill Creek and Buford (ranked nine and 17 in the MaxPreps national rankings respectively) squared off in a high-profile matchup. Mill Creek came out on top against Buford by a score of 31-24 on Friday. The win was just business as usual for Mill Creek, who after seven games remain undefeated this season.
Mill Creek's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shane Throgmartin, who threw for 235 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Trajen Greco was another key contributor, picking up 125 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Collins Hill's win on Friday bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Mill Creek, their victory was their 11th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 7-0.
Collins Hill was dealt a bruising 54-0 loss at the hands of Mill Creek in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Will Collins Hill have more luck at home instead of on the road?
