After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mildred, Athens was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top against the Westwood Panthers by a score of 2-0. The victory was some much needed relief for the Hornets as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Westwood's loss came despite strong showings from Paxtyn Coker and Audrey Calzada. Coker had 11 digs and one assist, while Calzada had five kills and two blocks. Coker has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more digs the last four times she's played.

Athens' win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Westwood, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

Athens has already played their next contest (against Mineola), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Westwood, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against Midlothian Heritage on the 22nd.
