Mission San Jose is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of Irvington.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Newark Memorial and Moreau Catholic had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. Newark Memorial blew past Moreau Catholic 8-1 on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Mariners: they've now won three in a row.

Mission San Jose's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Newark Memorial, the win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 5-3.
