Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Piper). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Turner Golden Bears 51-16 at home. The Pirates pushed the score to 45-8 by the end of the third, a deficit the Golden Bears cut but never quite recovered from.
Piper found their leader in underclassman Jayden Correa, who rushed for 107 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries, and also threw for 151 yards and a touchdown on only 14 passes. Roman Byers was another key player, gaining 84 total yards and three touchdowns.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Piper was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 238 rushing yards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 57.2 rushing yards per game earlier this season, but in their last three matches they've averaged 213.
