Baseball Recap: King Wins Going Away Against Juarez

King hadn't done well against Juarez recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Jaguars put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 14-4 win. That looming 14-4 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Jaguars yet this season.

Sam Roma made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, King let Kennedy Baniba and Antwon King run wild. Baniba went 1-for-4 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while King went 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases Baniba has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Matthew Chatman, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

King moved to 4-8 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Juarez, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

King will look to defend their home field on Friday against Dunbar at 4:30 p.m. As for Juarez, they will head out to face off against Farragut at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Admirals have averaged an impressive 9.4 runs per game this season.
