Soccer Game Preview: Starr's Mill vs. Drew

The Starr's Mill Panthers will square off against Drew at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Starr's Mill is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 4.7 goals per game this season.

Starr's Mill gave up the first goal on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against McIntosh by a score of 3-1. Starr's Mill's winning goal came courtesy of Kendra Ivaska.

Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks on offense in their last four matchups, Drew finally came back down to earth back in March. They lost 14-0 to Pace Academy. Drew's loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Drew was without their leading scorer, Stephany Gomez-Vargas, in Thursday's game. With Gomez-Vargas sidelined, Balderas Vanessa got her first action of the season.

Starr's Mill pushed their record up to 12-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those four contests. As for Drew, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

Starr's Mill took their victory against Drew in their previous meeting back in February of 2016 by a conclusive 10-0 score. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do Drew have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
