Baseball Recap: Victory Christian Academy Finds Playoff Glory Versus Oasis Christian

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Victory Christian Academy walked away with it. They were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Oasis Christian Lions on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Storm, who have now won 11 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Kason Dansforth looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits.

At the plate, Collin Strickland and Braylon Mitchell did most of the damage at the plate: Strickland scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while Mitchell scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Strickland has become a key player for Victory Christian Academy: the team is 9-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 6-8 otherwise. Landon Cuzzone was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4.

Victory Christian Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for Victory Christian Academy and bumps their season record up to 15-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Oasis Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-11.

Looking ahead, Victory Christian Academy will take on Seffner Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Storm's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Crusaders have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season. Oasis Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
