Football Game Preview: Le Grand Bulldogs vs. Mariposa County Grizzlies + Official Tickets

Le Grand and Mariposa County are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2016, but not for long. The Bulldogs will head out on the road to square off against the Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, Le Grand earned a 28-21 win over Yosemite. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.

Diego Martinez and Thomas Benting were among the main playmakers for Le Grand as the former rushed for 91 yards and one score on only seven carries and the latter rushed for 143 yards and one TD. The Bulldogs are 5-1 when Benting posts 100 or more rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Le Grand was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 254 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.

Meanwhile, Mariposa County didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Waterford on Friday, but they still walked away with a 19-14 victory.

Le Grand better keep an eye on Rusty Bull. He was instrumental in Mariposa County's win, rushing for 134 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 7.9 yards per carry. Bull's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 127 rushing yards.

Mariposa County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Laten Butler and Beau Pokora.

Le Grand's record is now 6-3. As for Mariposa County, their record now sits at 8-1.

Friday's game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Benting and Bull. Benting just won't slow down this season and has run in 11 touchdowns while averaging 112.4 rushing yards per game. Bull has been a dominant force too and has run in 17 touchdowns while averaging 104.7 rushing yards per game.

Le Grand came up short against Mariposa County when the teams last played back in November of 2024, falling 28-20. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
