Recap: Coolidge Bears vs. Valley Christian Trojans
The Coolidge Bears lost against the Valley Christian Trojans back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Coolidge fell just short of Valley Christian by a score of 44-42. Coolidge has struggled against Valley Christian recently, as their match on Monday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Bears players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Amaira Miguel, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Alaysia White, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Coolidge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Valley Christian only pulled down eight offensive rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Valley Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gracie Miraglia, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. Ellie Phillips was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six assists.
Coolidge's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-9. As for Valley Christian, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 22-3.
Coolidge will head out on the road to square off against Thatcher at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Coolidge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Monday. As for Valley Christian, they will be playing at home against Florence at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Valley Christian is coming into the matchup with 12 straight wins at home, so Florence is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
