Soccer Game Preview: Manteca vs. Patterson

The Manteca Buffaloes will square off against the Patterson Tigers at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

Manteca is likely headed into the game with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Sierra on Thursday. Manteca fell just short of Sierra by a score of 2-1. While losing is never fun, the Buffaloes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 1036th, while the Timberwolves are ranked 226th).

Meanwhile, Patterson put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their undefeated season alive. Their defense stepped up to hand Central Catholic an 8-0 shutout. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by three goals or more this season.

They hit Central Catholic with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Erick Castaneda (4), Andrew Diaz (3), and Mouso Mourtazo.

Patterson is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-0-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up four goals over those ten games. As for Manteca, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-16-2.
