Recap: Delta Bobcats vs. Saxony Lutheran Crusaders
The Delta Bobcats came tearing into Thursday's matchup with five straight wins dating back to last season (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 53-45 victory over Saxony Lutheran. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Delta also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
Despite the defeat, Saxony Lutheran had strong showings from Evie Caruso, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds, and Rebecca Johnson, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. Caruso has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last nine times she's played.
Delta's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Saxony Lutheran, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.
Delta will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Notre Dame at 6:00 p.m. on January 8, 2024. Saxony Lutheran will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Sikeston at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
