Argonaut takes loss despite strong efforts from Seth Mitchell and Mitchell Mcmahan

Recap: Argonaut Mustangs vs. Rio Vista Rams

The Argonaut Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a 64-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Rio Vista. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Argonaut's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Mitchell Mcmahan, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds, and Seth Mitchell who scored 12 points along with six rebounds. Mcmahan scored a full 36.4% of Argonaut's points, the ninth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Hartman, who scored four points.

Rio Vista's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ashlynd Rhett, who scored 22 points along with nine rebounds and six steals. The game was Rhett's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Matt Bodle was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Argonaut bumped their record down to 7-6 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Rio Vista, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Argonaut won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Escalon at 7:00 p.m. on December 20th. Escalon presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Argonaut in California (Escalon is ranked 229th, while Argonaut is ranked 766th). Rio Vista will be staying on the road on December 28th to face off against St. Vincent de Paul at 4:30 p.m. on December 28th. St. Vincent de Paul will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
