Baseball Recap: Wendell Takes a Loss

Wendell was the 4-3 winner over Malad when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Trojans took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dragons on Friday. Trojans fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Dragons since on Friday.

Adrian Nava was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Zayden Rogers, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs.

Wendell's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-12-1. As for Malad, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wendell will face off against Garden Valley at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Malad, they will take on Declo at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Dragons are facing the Hornets at the right time seeing as the Hornets are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
