Pioneer Valley recap Oct. 16, 2012

Placer extended the longest winning streak in Pioneer Valley this week by beating Bear River, 14-7. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.

The Bruins moved up to 323 from 417 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Bear River was able to make the jump by losing to Placer 14-7.

Colfax's dynamic duo of Michael Wilson and Kyle Bryant proved tough for Center to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Wilson threw for 362 yards and one touchdown and Bryant had 208 yards receiving. Christopher Harshman helped Colfax's passing attack out by catching four balls for 69 yards.

Isaac Brahce was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 123 yards on 20 carries as Joey Montoya's team fell to the Cougars. Michael Robinson also contributed to the rushing game with 102 yards on the ground.

Hunter Cramer made the biggest impact on defense this week as Scott Savoie/Terry Logue's team fell to the Hillmen. The 6-foot-4 junior pulled down one interception and recorded one fumble.

Colfax's Wilson and Bryant have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Pioneer Valley in both passing and receiving yards. Wilson has thrown for 1930 yards this season, while Bryant has 48 catches for 811 yards. Lincoln's James Hubbard leads the league in rushing yards with 817.

Going into this week's game against Foothill, Tony Martello's team's Wilson needs 70 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Bruins take on Center. As it stands, Bear River is in third, while Digol J'Beily's team is in second.

There should be lots of points scored when the Fighting Zebras and Placer face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Lincoln comes in having scored 250 this season, while the Hillmen have scored 331. Ken Lowe's team scored 35 points last week as it topped the Mustangs.

The Fighting Zebras took down Foothill 35-14 last week, the largest margin of any game.
