Football Game Preview: Conant Cougars vs. Barrington Fillies/Broncos

Conant is 2-8 against Barrington since October of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Cougars will be playing at home against the Fillies/Broncos at 7:30 p.m. Conant has given up an average of 29 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Conant is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Fremd on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Cougars took a blow against the Vikings, falling 42-7. The contest marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Barrington and Palatine, and Barrington kept the tradition alive. The Fillies/Broncos blew past the Pirates 42-21 on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Fillies/Broncos, who have now won three matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.

Conant better focus on containing Luke Tepas and Lamar Osterhues as the pair were huge in Barrington's win. Tepas rushed for 80 yards and three TDs on only nine carries, while Osterhues rushed for 134 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 8.4 yards per carry. Those 80 rushing yards gave Tepas a new career-high.

Conant now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Barrington, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.

Conant was dealt a bruising 55-7 loss at the hands of Barrington in their previous meeting back in September of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Cougars were down 41-7.
